The Groundhogs are nearly upon us!! Here in the borderland, the Onnemi team is praying that 2020 is a great year for you! We are also excited for what the Lord has in store for us this year! Thanks to you, (our faithful prayer and financial supporters) we are able to continue serving the Kilometers 32 thru 37 communities of Juarez. This year we have several new family sponsorships. Please remember the Mercado, Quintana, Morones, and Baron families. These families are greatly encouraged by the love shown to them from so far away! Some of the older kids are struggling to understand why complete strangers would even care about them. It has made for wonderful conversations about Christ and his body. We are seeing a steady growth in the quantity of folks visiting our Comedor (community kitchen). This is a bitter sweet praise and thanksgiving. On one hand, we are thankful that we are able to serve more folks and help families in extreme poverty. On the other hand, it speaks to the struggles of so many families in this area. The need grows bigger as more people arrive. Please join us in prayer as we look to offer ICHEA schooling again at the Onnemi center. This is an adult G.E.D. type of program that the Mexican government offers, but they need host locations and enough students to justify the expense. Our community is fairly transient and every few years there is a shift in population and educational needs. We believe there is a need for Elementary & Middle school level classes. We seek favor with the agency that supplies the teachers, if they see the need and think it is viable, we could offer classes for several years! One last item for prayer is that of safety for our team. Juarez seems to go through cycles of violence. We are on the rising side now. The community is remote and we don't see much of what happens further in the city, however, 2019 brought violence much closer than ever before. 2020 is promises to be worse. Thank you for your prayers, your notes of encouragement, your gifts, and your visits! May the Lord bless you and keep you and grant you His peace! | | | Onnemi International Ministries is dedicated to church planting on the US-Mexico border.
