Onnemi International Ministries has a Family Sponsorship Program. We connect people with local families in our community that have school age children. The financial sponsorship is applied to all the children's educational needs. Often, families in Km 33, struggle to meet the daily needs of basic food and shelter; much less the educational costs of uniforms and supplies.
The education system in Mexico is free up through Third grade. Once children enter Fourth grade; families have to pay for registration, uniforms, school supplies. Kids will also receive homework that requires internet or computer work. Our community is unpaved, we have no water or sewage, there is certainly no internet and most families can't afford computers.
Our community kitchen serves two meals a day which help offset the expenses of daily meals and allows funds to be used for school. Kids arrive for breakfast, go to school and then return for a late lunch. Many leave expecting their next meal to be breakfast the following morning. Still, we find that this is not enough to fully equip kids for school. Fifty dollars a month will provide basic registration, supplies, and uniforms for a family with three kids. One of our goals is to empower kids in Km 33 to break out of the cycles of poverty and have hope for a future. Our desire is to walk with these families in a way that will allow them to experience the love of Christ and come to meet him.
The following pictures are of our most recent High school graduate! Matilde has been with Onnemi for eight years. She is full of joy and very excited for the next chapter of her life.

Onnemi, a Nahuatl word meaning "he lives", exists to show how Christ can live in and through each of us in every area of our lives.
